Tajweed Lesson 8: The Rules of Noon Saakinah & Tanween #3 [Iqlab]

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Iqlab

  • Iqlab [إقلاب] means to change, linguistically.

This means to change the sound of noon into the sound of another letter.

  • Iqlab's letters: ب

  • Its rule: Whenever noon saakinah [ن] or tanween [ ً ٍ ٌ ] is followed by the letter baa' [ب], we will make Iqlab by changing the sound of noon into the sound of meem with 2 counts of ghunnah, as indicated by a small [ م ] floating over the noon saakinah and replacing the second half of the tanween.

An example of Iqlab with noon saakinah: we will pronounce this as "mim ba'di".

An example of Iqlab with tanween fatha or fathatayn, with the small meem replacing the second fatha: we will pronounce this as "lanasfa'am binnasiyah."

[End of lesson.]
